Local climbers are working on restoring several handholds in the Big Bend Bouldering Area after a petroleum-based grease was smeared into them. “Someone…literally smeared it like you would spread cream cheese on a bagel over these holds,” said Friends of Indian Creek board member Lisa Hathaway. The group and others are carefully working on restoring the fragile sandstone sites. The BLM is currently offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification of those responsible for the vandalism. Plus, our radio partners report on the evolution of Coal Basin from mining to mountain bikes.
