Taming Tamarisk

The tamarisk beetles have been reshaping Colorado River riparian zones since the early 2000’s. Tim Graham has monitored the impacts of the tamarisk beetle, a biological or bio control that was released to reduce the amount of invasive tamarisk that occur in the waterways across the Southwest. We talk with Tim about the history of testing and releasing the tamarisk beetle, how the beetle has done with controlling tamarisk along our rivers, and why the dead tamarisk, we are now often seen serves an important ecological function for our riparian areas.
