Music Adds Sept. 13, 2019

(Left): Charlie Megira, AKA,  Gabi Abudraham, an enigmatic and prolific cult artist who was born in the Beit She’an Valley of Israel and found his way to Berlin, all along the way picking up a vintage, reverb-heavy, time-capsule sort of sound. Though he died at the young age of 44 in 2016, he leaves a hefty discography, including the new official release of  Boom Chaka Boom Boom, only available digitally on Bandcamp until now. (Right): Tuareg band Tinariwen has released their 9th album, Amadjar. With guest artists like Cass McCombs in the mix, Tinariwen’s recording process included a campervan turned makeshift studio, album prep while camping under the stars en route to Mauritania, and the final product done in a few takes under a tent with an audience of scorpions. The result is magical. (Below): Check out the video for Alabama Shakes’ front woman Brittany Howard‘s new song “Stay High” with an endearing performance and lip synch by Terry Crews. Howard’s solo debut album Jaime will release next week on ATO Records.

**Best way to aurally feel the Saharan sands between your toes: Tinariwen:
**Best record from the spring excitedly resurrected from a forgotten pile: Avery Sharpe:
