KOKOKO!, a musical collective born out of a block party in Kinshasa capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, have fused electronics with homemade upcycled instruments, collaborating in multidisciplinary expression with dancers from the Lingwala neighborhood, all to create a highly danceable and raw aesthetic that provides the “chaotic soundtrack for the city’s harsh yet abundantly creative realities.” Their new LP Fongola, which translates as “the key”, is, in the words of the band, a “torrid, anarchic, youthful journey smashing a new path through modern life in Africa’s third most populous city. ” Check out the video for the track “L.O.V.E.” below, and then do yourself a favor and watch every other video they have to offer.
