(Left): Brooklyn AfroBeat ensemble Antibalas celebrate their 20th year with the release of Fu Chronicles. Harkening back to the days of a pre-gentrified Williamsburg when both the band and Daptone Records spawned out of lead singer Duke Amayo’s kung fu dojo, the album guides listeners through the band’s personal experience of the intersection of kung fu and Afrobeat. (Right): Philly musician Aaron Earl Livingston, AKA Son Little, plays with the theme of letting go on his new album aloha, written in 8 days and recorded at Paris’s iconic Studio Ferber. Also known for collaborations with The Roots, RJD2, and Mavis Staples, Little continues to impress as a solo powerhouse as well in the realms of rhythm and blues. Check out the video for the song “Hey Rose” below!
