KZMU turns 26 on Monday, April 2nd. YOU are invited to the birthday party at the MARC from 4-6 pm. Admission is free and donations are welcome. The Fiery Furnace Marching Band will provide the party music, along with a cameo appearance by the cast of KZMU’s most recent radio play, Beautiful Radiant Things. Beverages and birthday cake will be served, and Music Director Serah Mead will conduct a live auction of special items to benefit KZMU.
KZMU has now survived for nearly two years without funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which previously contributed $90,000 per year toward the station’s operations. CPB deemed KZMU “too small to survive” and pulled support in 2016.
Because of generous contributions of people like you, not only has the station survived, but KZMU has continued to create and foster new programming. KZMU recently hired journalist Molly Marcello, formerly a reporter for the Times Independent, to create a regular daily news report. The KZMU News debuts at noon on KZMU’s birthday and runs Monday-Friday at noon and 7 pm.
Join us to celebrate, on Monday, April 2nd, from 4-6 pm at the MARC side yard, 111 East 100 North in Moab. The Fiery Furnace Marching Band will Krank Ze Musik Up! For more information, call Marty Durlin at 435 259 8824.
