KZMU News Earful – Marty Durlin says “goodbye” but not for good

By August 24, 2018 Get an Earful

After three and a half years at the helm of (rocket)ship KZMU, Marty Durlin steps down as general manager at the end of this month. Durlin played a large role in stabilizing the station after a major loss in funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. She helped KZMU persist, even facilitating new events and programming as the station shored up its resources. Durlin foresees new achievements in KZMU’s future under new manager Serah Mead. Although Durlin will be retiring in Paonia, Colorado, she’ll be back to Moab soon enough. That’s because she’s producing KZMU’s fourth radio play – “Uranium: The Musical” slated to hit the local stage next year. Today’s Earful catches up on KZMU’s past and future, through the lens of one incredible radio pioneer.
