How & Where to Donate Extra Garden Veggies

By June 8, 2020 No Comments

Date of event: 2020 Growing Season
Location: N/A
Full Description:

Moab is lucky to be home to many talented gardeners, and the season is upon us to start reaping the benefits of all our spring planting! The Local Food Task Force for Grand County would like to encourage local gardeners to donate extra produce from their home gardens if and when possible. Many local individuals and families experience food insecurity even during normal economic conditions, so it is imperative for us all to work together to divert extra produce out of the waste stream and get it to our neighbors in need.

Produce donations should be washed and prepackaged for distribution when possible. Harvest of fruits and vegetables within 1-2 days before donation is preferred to ensure a longer shelf life for the recipients.

Produce donations can be made to the following locations for distribution to local individuals and families. The drop-off windows below indicate optimum times to donate for getting food to recipients at peak freshness.
