Longtime Program Director and KZMU founder Christy Williams steps down, takes post with Museum of Moab

By November 3, 2017Announcement!

Christy has served as the voice, the face and the heart of KZMU. “She will be missed” doesn’t cover it. Perhaps “She will always hold a space here” comes close. Because the connections she made will continue to benefit the station, her voice will continue to grace our airwaves as she transitions to volunteer DJ, and her heart will continue to beat for the station high atop Rocky Road. KZMU stands as a testament to her 25 years of energy and commitment.

Besides serving as Program Director, Christy has also been one of the chief fundraisers at KZMU, a skill she will continue to hone in her new position as Development Director at the Museum of Moab.

We’re excited to see Christy spread her wings. The creation of ArTTrails — with partner Stoke (Michael Ford Dunton) — and her new work to expand the Museum of Moab are inspired projects that will benefit the community and enhance our cultural diversity. So go, dear Christy, but know that KZMU remains your home.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work over the years Christy! I first came across KZMU as a frequent visitor to Moab while I lived in Denver. Now as a California resident I continue to listen to my favorite radio station over the Internet. You will be missed, but glad to hear you aren’ leaving completely as a volunteer DJ! Best of luck in your new adventure!

I will miss my Christy hugs when coming in to spin my discs. So glad to know I’ll still get to hear her beautiful poetry and voice on the airwaves. Even happier to know its just a hop, skip, and jump to the Museum of Moab for those same glorious hugs and that our community will continue to benefit from her creative energy!!!!
